You know how Anakin loves Padme? That’s how I love books and vintage décor. With this in mind, it’s no surprise to see why Brew Urban Cafe is my favorite local coffee shop. In fact, today I’m going to take you with me on a visit to one of my favorite little parts of Fort Lauderdale. There will be tea, art and beautiful vintage things.
The coffee shop is an extension of C&I Studios, a hub of activity for local artists.
Every time I come in they’ve switched out all of the thrift shop/garage sale style. This is by far one of my favorite design aesthetics, as many of you know from seeing my own home. It’s such an imaginative idea. Every time I walk in it’s a whole new experience. I’d like to ask them who decides on the furniture choices.
Although I titled this post coffee and art, I’d gotten there a bit later in the morning on my last two visits, so I preferred to have tea instead.
Afternoon tea with a big chewy oatmeal raisin cookie.
If you happen to be in Fort Lauderdale on the last Saturday of any month, you should be heading over to the FAT Village Arts District for monthly artwalk. The street is shut down and artists all along the street open the doors of their studios to exhibit their work. Outside the studios, along the street and in a large field are independent artists, crafters and vendors. Here’s a tiny sample of what I admired on my last event.
And you know I was in a happy place when I saw these.
Outside of the studios
There’s so many more vendors, but my phone was stupidly low in battery. Anyhow, if you aren’t in Fort Lauderdale for this one of many artwalks in the city, you can still have some coffee or tea then spend a little time walking the street to check out the street art that covers most buildings.
Here is a portion of it. How freaking fantastic!
I have to give everyone an apology for the horrible coloring on this second photo. The full image shows the true saturation of color and beauty of the piece.
Thanks for coming along with me today. May I ask, which part of this Fort Lauderdale visit did you enjoy the most?
