When walking through the woods, I like to imagine myself a naturalist roaming through exotic forests, collecting specimens to bring back to the lab.🌿🔬 . When my kids were younger, I'd create scavenger hunts for these walks. I'd give them a list and send them hunting. They loved it! . If you've got young kids, I highly recommend trying it out. We often complain that our kids spend too much time on technology, and we lament how they can't hop on their bikes and ride around the neighborhood like we used to do when we were kids, but how much are we doing to encourage them to get outside? . Why not support your little scientist with an adventure this weekend? My road to a more minimalist lifestyle hasn't been a series of nonstop forward progress.🌴 . I still look around and wonder, where the heck did all this stuff come from?? You've likely asked yourself the same question more than a few times. . We sure do love our shit, don't we? We even love the shit we don't care about. That's why we've got crap sitting in boxes and closets that we rarely touch yet insist we need. 😏 . Even though it's a struggle to let go, even though I sometimes get lazy or forget the mission altogether, I'm committed to always getting back on the wagon to a more clutter-free and stress-free life. . P.S. Minimalism isn't about getting rid of everything you love; it's about letting go of what isn't serving you- which for most of us is quite a lot. . What can we do to help these gorgeous natural wonders thrive? . Low-flow plumbing fixtures, landscaping with native plants, eliminating fertilizers from our yards (or using slow-release ones), turning off the fucking faucet- we aren't barbarians. Reuse water. For instance, catch water in the shower and use it to water your plants🌿 . Hold politicians accountable for the amount of resources they allow developers and agriculture to use.🏘 🐄 .
